5 June 2008 "Kweli 3"

On Monday, a 1500-year old baobab tree fell across the main road through Kilifi. It was easily three meters across. I guess they will have it cleared away in a few days, a microsecond compared to how long that tree has been looking over the ocean. Global warming is more reversible than cutting down baobabs… (These pics were taken the next morning. The trunk split in two and missed falling into the road, but the huge branches arching across the road had already been cleared by this guy with a chainsaw...)
