"Kweli 12"
I (Patrick) lost one of the keys to our car, so we had the challenge of getting a duplicate made in Mombasa. We managed to find a blank that matched and then asked where we could have the blank cut. The store clerk directed us to a rickety table on the sidewalk manned by a file-wielding teenager. We watched as he deftly sculpted the blank using nothing but calipers and a hand file for a little over 10 minutes. I refused to pay until we tried the key, so he followed us to the car. To my surprise, it worked on the first try. He didn’t seem surprised…
